Lauren Butcher, LCSW-S Counseling & EMDR
Lauren Butcher, LCSW-S
ABOUT LAUREN
I’m Lauren Butcher, LCSW-S, a licensed clinical social worker and supervisor with over 18 years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s most emotionally demanding and complex challenges. My work is deeply rooted in trauma-informed care and shaped by a combination of professional expertise and lived experience—as a clinician, advocate, and parent.
I began my career with degrees in Paralegal Studies and Public Affairs, working in high-profile law offices before pursuing my passion for mental health and social justice with a Master’s in Social Work. My early clinical experience spanned psychiatric care (both inpatient and outpatient), crisis intervention, developmental disabilities, substance use, family systems, and grief. Over time, I focused more deeply on trauma recovery—particularly complex trauma, attachment wounds, and the nuanced experiences of those in the adoption triad (birth parents, adoptive families, and adoptees).
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan—from young children to clients over 100 years old—in hospitals, hospice care, advocacy centers, community agencies, and private practice. This broad perspective has strengthened my ability to meet clients where they are—with compassion, clarity, and practical guidance.
I bring a rare blend of legal insight and clinical expertise to my work with families navigating custody, divorce, and co-parenting challenges. With a background in both paralegal studies and clinical social work, I’ve supported high-conflict custody cases, attended mediations, and assisted in developing and implementing parenting plans. I’ve conducted home evaluations, supervised court-ordered parenting time, and provided therapy and assessments for individuals involved in legal proceedings. My ability to integrate mental health care with system navigation is especially valuable in emotionally charged family dynamics.
Clinically, I specialize in trauma, PTSD/CPTSD, ADHD and Neurodiversity, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, narcissistic abuse, and toxic family systems. I’m trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a proven approach for treating trauma, attachment wounds, and emotional dysregulation. Whether you’re recovering from betrayal, navigating divorce or co-parenting with a high-conflict ex, or managing burnout and grief, I offer more than just talk—I offer grounded, real-world tools to help you shift what’s not working.
As a parent raising a child with special needs, I intimately understand the unique challenges of parenting, navigating support systems, and coping with behavioral and developmental complexities. That lived experience gives me deep empathy for the clients and families I serve, especially those managing neurodiversity, school stressors, or emotional overwhelm.
Outside of sessions, I love exploring nature, traveling to new places, and off-roading in my Jeep Wrangler. I believe in living fully, feeling deeply, and finding strength in the messy middle.
I offer online therapy to clients across Texas, Florida, and Virginia, as well as in-person sessions at my Rockwall, Texas and Greenville, Texas locations.
Whether you're dealing with trauma, parenting stress, relationship struggles, or just trying to keep it all together—you don’t have to figure it out alone. Let’s find your new path forward together.
